Rear door latch

The rear drivers side door latch sticks locked every now and then on my '95 SSEi. I can unlock all the doors but this one will stay locked. If I reach in and unlock it it still won't open. I have to take the inside lock and move it back and forth while I keep retrying to lift up on the outside handle. Once it catches whatever it is, it tends to work fine for a month or too again. I have pulled the door apart twice to look at it but can't find anything wrong.

Anyone else had a problem like this?

On my 92 that I had, I had a problem with the "pin switch" (not really pin switches but didn't know what to call them) sensors in the latch. My interior lighting would just come on whenever they felt like it. This played havoc with my alarm system since the alarm thought a door was open when the lighting came on. Never really had a problem with the locks.

Hey Gord, my 90 did the same thing on both back doors. I ended up spraying a ton of penetrating oil on it first then sprayed some white grease on it after to keep it lubricated. When I bought the car, bothe back doors stayed locked, and only the passenger door locked. The driver door wouldn't even lock, so for a few days it stayed unlocked. It seems to be working good, but don't use the back doors much, don't use any of the doors much right now for that matter, hehe.

SOON, I hope to put it back on the road if that damn cutlass would stop needing repairs :explode:

You might need a door actuator bumper kit! GM P/N:88948572. These little bumpers tear over time & can simular havoc with the door locks.
