Rear door - Door and components - Sealing strip

Sealing strip Right 1994 - 1999 - 25544906

Sealing strip Left 1994 - 1999 - 25544907

These are the part numbers for the sealing strips that go between the rear door and the wheel well. They are rubber coated steel, and up here in the NE they are shot to hell, rusted and brittle. It must be common as all the ones at the bone yard are in the same shape as mine. Might not be a bad idea to check the condition of yours. Open the door, and pull the flap back. The area where they attach is steel coated with rubber and prone to corrosion.

realize this topic is from a while ago, but recently I came across a new set of rear lower door sealing strips on ebay, so I checked mine, and did I have this problem bad. Looks like the metal strip that is used to give the seal the proper shape is completely encased in rubber, except where the mounting holes are drilled through, so water must get in there over time, and the metal strip corrodes, which can actually corrode the rubber, and the mounting screw, and then spread to the front edge of the wheel well.

So I won these on ebay, and put them on, had to use new screws as well, guess I should be good for another 10 years

yes, thanks for reminding me, even though there's a rubber flap that folds over between the mounting strip and the door, the corrosion had actually started to spread to the lower inside edge of the door. Now that I've got the new sealing strips on, and I've picked up some rust converter, I will wire brush, rust convert, and touch up the lower inside edge of the door.
