My engine mounts recently changed. I need trans mounts bec my trans modulator and high pressure hose was leaking and prob messed up my trans mounts. I got the modulatr and hose yesterday fixed. Are the trans mounts a job I can do w/o trble and do the motor mounts have to be loosened to do it. Also why do fluids mess up rubber mounts? Don't these fluids flow through rubber hoses?

If nothing dripped on them, I wouldn't worry about it. If something MIGHT have dripped on them, I'd crawl under there and check them. Shove the tranny around, inspect the rubber for black slime or cracks/looseness.

Don't just change them because someone told you to. Might be unnecessary work.

Yeah on my last Pep Boys trip to get the starter the mech showed me where the leak was and also showed me where the mount was split. I didn't get them to do it bec I only needed the motor mount to pass inspection which I had done at Meineke. But I'm feeling the trans movement on takeoff and 1st gear to 2nd and also in the downshift.

So tell me do the motor mounts have to be loosened in order to do the trans mounts. Can I support the trans with my jack and maybe some 2x4'*. Any special tools needed?

Leave the motor mounts tight. No prob. Use blocks of wood to distribute the load of the jack across the trans. You might even want to nail together a 'cradle', and use it above the jack. Put some lift on it until you can get the pivot pins out. Just be careful!
