Gas Cap Door
My '95 SSE has the gas cap door broken. It doesn't remain locked. It'* a poor design. GM decided to put a stupid spring to hold the door in place when the door locks close. As you know, after some years the spring is going to corrode, which it did. Now the door doesn't close. Has anyone had this happen too? Any solutions? I priced the whole assembly from the dealer and it was too expensive to replace. I've been thinking of using velcro or magnets.

do you have the fuel door lock??? if not the spring on the door over time can wear out and cause the door not to close the whole way
If you have the fuel door lock
there have been a few members that have had the fuel door lock stop working....im planning on installing a fuel door lock soon....i will clean everything and lube it before i install it

There are two possible fixes here.
One is to adjust the lock. There is a torxs 15 screw that is on it and keeps the lock in position.
If you don't have the lock or your door simply doesn't close all the way, PM me before 7am tomorrow morning and the yard I'm going to has black, white, green...all kinds of cars. I can pick up a prepainted door for you.

I had the same problem with my 92'SSEI. Go to RadioShack and buy a pack of small round magnets. You only need two of them. Clean the leading edge on the body side of the gas cap door with some degreaser or some rubbing alcohol. Position two magnets so the gas door latches properly. When you get the position right, use some gel-based superglue to secure them to the body side of the door opening. The regular liquid superglue is too runny.
I tried velcro, but the self-sticking adhesive will fail due to temperature extremes.
As I pointed out in another post, the only real drawback is when you fill up your tank. The gas door will flop around since the spring is broke. Then again, the fix is less than $10.

1/2 of the door spring broke on my SSEi. I just purchased another door from Randman. 2 10mm nuts and the door comes off. Your best bet is finding another door the same color.

Re: Fuel door
I don't like my fuel cap door. I ended up replacing the gas cap with a locking cap because of Hurricaine Katrina. These people from Louisiana were stealing gas out of the cars @ work.
