Ok so I bit the bullet and bought a new bushing, washer, and bolt for the 92 Bonneville.

One of the rear engine cradle bushings (the one almost right below the passenger side door) fell apart on the road one day.

I installed the new bushing today but let me clarify because it doesnt 'look right' for some reason.

Between the frame and the cradle is the upper bushing. Then the lower bushing, then the washer, and finally the bolt... right? The washer goes between the bolt and the bottom part of the bushing?

I installed it and I still see a gap around the bushing. Ie. I can see through the cradle, around the new bushing. Did I get the wrong bushing at the dealer? It seems the lower part of the bushing should be wider. Help!

Top to bottom it'* the metal bushing with cup down and dickfer that slides into the bottom part of the bushing pointing down. Then the first rubber bushing that is bacically a rubber donut, Subframe, then the lower bushing fits into the upper metal piece with dickfer going through the bottom bushing. Then large washer and bolt.

I know you want me to say "Whats a dickfer?" But Im not gonna!!! haha.

But I now see the problem... I didnt use one of those. Right now its (top to bottom) Top bushing-cradle-bottom bushing-washer-bolt through it all. THATS why it doesnt look right.

Well, I must've done something right....

I finished the front brake job today (slider pins were frozen- what luck!), cleaned them up, re-lubed them, new rotors/pads, life is good!!

Brought the Bonne for a ride, no more popping noises, made several quick "jabs" at turning and several hard accels/firm brakes (but not too firm as to warp my new rotors!) and everything seems good. Thanks again for all of the help!

When I replaced the bushings. As you may have noticed from the pics, I did all of them. It firmed up the car and got rid of squeaks and groans that I figured were part of the car forever. Bushings do matter...lol

Those pictures are of your bushings... but the bushings I bought from the dealership and yours look totally different!

I take it there were big changes in engine cradle bushings between 1992- 1997?

I thought they were relatively the same as they all bolt up the same and appear the same.
