Default 93 SSE rattle on the passenger side of engine

okay all, I am new to this, I have a 1993 bonneville SSE which of course has the super charger, and have had this car for less than 6 months, I have never had a problem with it until today. I started it up, and all the sudden there is a rattle on the passenger side of the engine, it rattles in idle, but when I put it in drive and get it above 1500 or so rpm'* it stops rattleing. bro in law swore up and down it was the tensioner pulley so we replaced the whole assembly. The rattle is still there. My brother in law removed the belt thinking maybe it was the water pump, and still no go. The rattle will not go away. he swears it is somewhere in the belt set up but I am lost. a friend told me not to drive it at all because she had a similar problem and she ended up with the rod going through the engine. I am a stay at home mom with a 3 year old and pregnant, so at this point I NEED this car to work LOL someone please help me......

The rubber wears out and allows the metal pieces inside to contact each other. When the engine is reved up it maintains contact and that is why the rattle goes away. It takes a large socket and usually an impact wrench to get it loose. You just want to be careful you don't damage the crank position sensor behind the balancer or the metal rings on the balancer that trigger the sensor. You will need to remove the front wheel and splash guards and then you will be able to see the balancer. Next you will need to remove the drive belt. When you get the bolt out the balancer just slides off the crank shaft. Be carefull not to lose the woodruff key in the slot on the crankshaft. Installation is just the reverse of removal.

They are not cheap in my opinion, but cheaper than some parts. Here is a link to the autozone website for it:

I personally have never heard of the repair sleeve. Almost everybody I have heard of has changed the balancer.

That repair sleeve is to create a new sealing surface for the front oil seal. It has nothing to do with the noise and worn rubber.
