I am a newbie 93 SE owner, and I have an 89 Buick Electra Park Ave on the side. I'm wondering if I ever needed a replacement motor on the bonniville, if this would work, otherwise, I guess I'll junk the buick.

I believe the buick has a V6-231 3.8L 3800 SFI vin code C, where the SE has a V6-231 3.8L 3800 vin code L

Am I right to assume that the buick would work with a 92 but not a 93?

I beleive that the 92-93 years are the same. The 89 buick engine would probably work on any 90 or older cars (within the same vin line). You could possibly use the 89 in the 93 but you would need to move over the wiring, tranny, and so much more it wouldn't be worth it. Plus possibly having to custom make some parts.
