Gears?
i was wondering what the gearing is in my 92 ssei...am i right when i say there are 4? 1 2 3(d) and 4(od)...... is that right? ill post the other part if thats right...later

ok if its a 4 speed atuo...then why have i noticed this...
when driving down teh road about 45 MPH...my car runs a littel rough in OD...so i shift to D and the rpms go up to about 2100...then down to about 1800 but its still in D...but if i then go from D to 2 they go up to like 3. 3.5 somewher in there...what i dont get is why does it seem liek there is 5 gears...ive noticed this other times too this is the best way to explain it...it seems like there is 5 but i dont know really why...is there differnt parts of D?

That'* the torque converter clutch locking\unlocking - it makes a big difference in RPM.
For example, at 60MPH, RPM would be about 2200 with the TCC unlocked, then when it locks up it'd drop down to 1700 or so.
The TCC would lock both in D (3) or in OD (4), when cruising, for better fuel economy. This means that you actually have 6 "modes" in the transmission.

Yep. You can say the tranny is "settling in" for a long run. At first it stays up, expecting another change in driving conditions. It'* for good gpm. :P
