Hi how is everyone! I have a 96 bonneville se. I runs for about 20 min at idle in park then stalls when heats up. Just died at light. stalled restarted. then chugged and died. always restarts but will eventually stall out! coil pack checked, plate checked, new fuel pump, new crank sensor at the end of my ropes cans some one please help It is throwing a random misfire code. some said to check grounds did that and its fine any ideas. garage stumped!

have u tried new wires???? ignition module tested?

Agreed if its throwing a misfire code plugs and wires is always the logical start.

Sounds like a heat-related issue? Does the shop suspect the ignition control module?

Thanks for all the suggestions. Finally yelled at the mechanic enough so that he brought it to a Pontiac dealer and it was fixed in about 20 mins. MAF sensor had a bad connection. This was after the first mechanic had already tried throwing a bunch of new parts at it hoping to fix it. The good news is that I now have new plugs, crank sensor, fuel pump, fuel filter, and a bunch of other parts that I can't remember off the top of my head, and at no cost to me! The bad part is that i was without my car for 3 weeks.

Before I read the solution, I was leaning towards a coil pack. They can fail as they warm up, but most places check them cold, and they're fine. Glad you got her back!
