chirping noise in the area of the belt tensioner- IT'* FIXED
I am getting a chirping noise from the area of the belt tensioner.
I have also noticed the belt is not on center of the tensioner pulley and it is not on center of the waterpump pulley either. The belt is right at the edge of the tensioner pulley and you can stand at the front of the motor and look to see if ALL pulley'* line up and you can see thall do except the belt tensioner, it seems to be further out to the rest.
What do you think.
1. need to replace the belt tensioner? (The spring is still real strong)
2. replace the belt tensioner pulley?

Reseat the belt to the center and see what it does.
Maybe it'* merely having difficultly centering and needs a hand. Then consider the tensioner.

When you say the tensioner are you refering to the complete assembly or just the pulley?

Check the pulley surface for excessive wear. I replaced the SC tensioner after I saw the belt not riding true in the center of the pulley. The old pulley surface had "worn" to one side pretty bad and the belt would ride to worn side on the edge.

When/if you replace them...all bolts in pullies are regular thread except the tensioners....those are reverse threaded.
Maybe pull the tension off the belt and feel each pulley for play and feeling of going bad...scratch or inconsistent feel.

I like Bill'* thinking, better...would make sense that if a bearing is going, the pulley could be tilting causing the belt to ride off center...and does account for the chirp.

If Bill is right, it will be the tensioner pulley that is off.
When I had the belt off I did rotate the pulleys of the alt and PS and the new WP and all sounded and felt good (in and out) but the tensioner pulley ratteled a tiny bit. Since I never new what it is supose to sound like I thought that was normal.
OK, How do I change the Tensioner Pulley and where do I get one?
What do I look for in a good product?

Replaced the Tensioner pulley "Took only 5min" and the chirp is gone.....
Spun the old one when I had it off and there was a bearing rattiling in there.
