Default quick questions

ok couple of questions about the 92 bonnies one do they make standard transaxle for the 92 sse (4t60e) also (and correct me if im wrong) the 92 sse comes with cast iron heads can they be changed out to aluminum, i.e. do they make aluminum heads for it, and if so would it run the chance of heating them up to much cause of radiator flow direction

I don't know of heads for that engine. The series 2 engine has aluminum heads, but better get out your check book.

The 4T60 in that year for the SSE would have been the non-hd version. The Sc cars got the HD version.

Aluminum heads, I've never heard of them for the Series 1 motor. Doesn't mean someone didn't do it, but I never heard that they happened.

OBD2.

If you want a manual transmission, your options are few. W-body guys have successfully swapped in the Getrag 282 and 284. The 284 is not recommended due to the cost ($500+ for a clutch), and the fact that its impossible to find a rebuild kit for one, and when you do find it, it sells for its weight in gold. The 282 can be pulled from a 1988-1990 Grand Prix or Cutlass Supreme. If you can fabricate a mount, you can also use one from a J-body.

The fiero guys suggested I look into the F23. Apparently it holds a lot of power. Don't know anything about it.

The other option is the F40, which was optional for the G6'*. The advantage is that they're stupid cheap, to the tune of $250-$300 BRAND NEW for the 2006/2007 years. Sourcing the rest of the parts to make it work might be a different challenge, and you need to be able to fabricate to get it to work right. It has been done in w-bodies, though I haven't seen one in a Bonneville.

None of these are options I'd recommend due to the fabrication involved.

Manual trans ratings should be taken with a grain of salt. The j-body guys put 400hp+ through a stock Getrag 282 and crack the case due to insufficient bracing, snap the axles left and right, but the internals never fail. One of the guys on w-body, Kuntzie, also on clubgp, put down somewhere around 580hp to the wheels on a Getrag 284 with a Spec Stage 5 clutch and cracked the case. With proper bracing and a good clutch, you can put an ungodly amount of power through these bone stock transmissions that you couldn't dream of doing with a stock 4T65E, and they're lighter and allow you to put more power to the ground to boot. Thees are some of the reasons why I wanted to go with the 282, but that project is on hold until I can afford the $250 clutch , $100 shift fork, and the $180 INTENSE oil filter adapter to clear the intermediate shaft, unless the Series 1 OFA works.
