I had a similar problem with the ABS malfunctioning on my 2000 SE recently - when I purchased the car, it had a bad wheel bearing. Repair consisted of a new wheel bearing and ABS sensor assembly (someone will correct me if I'm a little off on my description of the assembly!) A few weeks later, I had the "LOW TRAC" light come on, followed by a chime and the "ANTI-LOCK" light flashed and then stayed solid. Turns out the replacement assembly was faulty, which in turn knocked out my ABS. Had THAT one replaced, now it'* good as gold.
Bottom line: have it checked out ASAP. It could be one of many things. If you perform a search of previous posts here, you'll certainly find quite a few messages on the subject.

my abs light stays on all the time also. about 2 weeks ago i was wondering if that light was just telling me if i have abs, or if something was wrong. so i gunned it and slammed on the brakes. locked um all up for a little while, then abs kicked in towards the end. weird?

Bottom line is that ABS and Traction can be very expensive to repair......and the only way to extract the codes is to have the dealer pull them. A standard Tech2 won't do it. I had to pay 135 bucks to have mine diagnosed.

my 93 SE has an ABS light on too, i tried to pull codes from it with a TECH2 i got 3 WSS codes and a pressure inlet code if i remember right. i could not clear them, so i tested all four corners and the WSS were all with in spec. I even removed the module in hopes of ditching the codes but they are rock solid. I think i need a new ABS module. Anyone find a cheep one???

Watch ebay. I saw one there once. Make sure it matches the proper year. There were several changes. I can give you the p/n if you need it. That'* normally a 700 dollar part for a 93. Do you have traction control too?

Thanks for the response guys! I hope its nothing major, I noticed it came on after i got my car smogged a couple of days ago. I dont know if this could have affected it,also i did run over a road cone before i noticed the lightcome on. so it could have resulted from any of these two factors.I'll try slamming my brakes going over a mild speed bump or something, this seemed to activate my ABS in the past. I'll keep you guys informed....

anytime that your ABS light is on steady, it disables the antilock braking and goes into a regular braking mode. you said that it started after you had your car smogged, im assuming that you mean emissions tested. check all the connectors at the ABS module and the combination valve assembly(isolation/dump valve) and make sure they are connected, also check your brake fluid and see if its dark, it might need flushing. most of the time, a stone will catch the pick-up on the wheel speed sensor and take it out, or hit the wiring on the control arm that goes to the sensor and cut a wire.
