Programming key fob, but no pin 8
Well, I was all set to follow the excellent directions here: https://www.gmforum.com/t278257/
However, when I got under my dash, I noticed that my OBD-II connector doesn't have a metal contact on pin 8. Maybe it'* just my pulled neck muscle keeping me from getting as close as I'd like, but has anyone else had this problem?

Good chance you may not have the keyless remote option. Only way to verify is looking at your RPO sticker and looking for AU0.
I looked at my OBDII connector and I do not have that wire either. Verified my RPO and it is not listed.

Well besides the wire to the connector, probably more wiring and a module or 2, GM doesn't make it easy to add factory options to a car that didn't come with them like when I put an SSEi cluster in my SE I had to add wires from the DIC to the cluster connectors, or putting the heated seats in an SE, the RIM didn't have a pin in the connector for a pin I needed so I had to add one in, not fun

More trouble that what its worth. Gonna need access to a FSM. Matching remotes and module, and who knows what else.

When I programmed mine, I didn't notice that the DLC was upside down. Make sure the wide end is UP when looking for pins. I tried like 4 times and then I realized that the plug is installed upside-down.
I had to use the complete opposite pins and then it worked. With every other car I've seen, the wide end was always up, so I didn't even check...

IMPORTANT : Before entering the programming mode, verify possession of all the transmitters you will be using on the vehicle. Once you program the transmitter, the memory erases. The other transmitters will not be functional until you program the transmitters again. You may program up to 4 transmitters.
Perform the following procedure when adding new transmitters or replacing failed transmitters:
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Use a fused jumper in order to jumper the DLC terminal 8 (BLK/WHT) to terminal 4 (BLK).
Close all of the doors.
Turn the ignition switch ON. The doors will cycle to lock.
Press and hold the LOCK button and the UNLOCK button on one transmitter. After a 30 second delay the doors will lock and unlock.
IMPORTANT : Do not turn the ignition OFF or the first transmitter will become inoperative.
In order to program extra transmitters, repeat step 5.
Disconnect the jumper from the DLC.

I believe an over the counter GM keyless is still available. It comes with remotes identical to factory and instructions for installing. A factory service manual would be handy for wiring locations. It comes with several options that you can opt to use or not. I've done it to a few cars and it'* a little easier to do than try to add a factory one(in my opinion)

These remote starters also need to either tie into your VATS system, or it needs to be bypassed.
Anyone ever do a remote starter with these VATS systems?
