Default VATS Bypass Guide?

Sorry to bring up a old topic but I'm having the same problem, I think, with a 97 Buick LeSabre (I know its not the same car but their close) But the security light comes on and the car will not start, Is there a VATS bypass guide for dummies anywhere? Any Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi and welcome to the club! Apology accepted - I split out your post from the old one to avoid confusion . It'* best to reference an old topic by copy/pasting the url address like above to keep the current problems ....well...current. But many times it is useful to refer back to them.

I can't advise you on your problem, unfortunately....good luck!

Does the security light start flashing when the key is turned to "on"? That would indicate the VATS is not reading the resistance in the key eitehr because it'* dirty, the contacts in the lock cylinder aren't making contact, or the wires are broken or breaking between the lock cylinder and the bottom of the steering wheel--or possibly the theft deterrent module isn't working correctly.

If it'* a broken wire or lock cylinder contacts, you can insert resistors for the resistance of your key and fool the wires from the theft deterrent module into thinking the correct resistance key is being read.
