What is the service required on the auto trans and transaxle if any. The fluid on mine is about 1/2 pint low. I was going to add but didn't know if I shouldn't just get it changed and a new filter - it has 105K? Should I get this done at one of the quick lube places or what suggestions do ya'll have.

Do it yourself if you can. It'* not all that hard to do. Plus you avoid having one of those quick places screw your car for you. I know one did that to me. Couple years ago, I replaced the upper radiator hose myself. Brand new. Now, the car has NEVER been to ANY shop since then. This past spring on a whim, I took it to a quick oil change place to get the oil changed. Then about a month later, I end up having to pull my engine and trans to change the diff.(different story) But anyway, while removing the upper rad hose, I noticed a 8 inch long slit on the underside of the hose. WTF, then it dawned on me where that could have come from. A RAZOR! And the only shop it was in was that oil change place! And no, it was not a crack, I took a razor to the same hose and place an identical slit along the other one. It was intentional.

Anyway, I'm sure others will chime in telling you the same.

Do it yourself. I personally, do the tranny services every 60,000 miles or six months, whichever comes first.

If you can, do it yourself. Drop the pan and inspect for any metal shavings or unusual amounts of clutch material. This will also give you the opportunity to change the filter, which would be a good idea as you're a bit over-due. If you take it in, take it to a shop that will drop the pan and change the filter.

If all else fails, and you know of a good instant oil change shop (there are some good ones, but you have to do some searching) then having it done that way is better than just leaving it.

5 yrs ago had a coupon for a free oil change from a dealership. Brought the car and got it back with manifolds smoking with oil, oil filter seal leaking and overfilled one quart. Last time anyone has ever touched my cars. Dang dipsticks
