Default Gas Gauge Stays ON Empty All The Time

Well my fathers friend change the fuel pump 1 month ago and from that day the gas gauge was not working, is there a fuse for the fuel gauge or could he have pinched a wire.

Now its always on empty, at first it would fluctuate to full then go back to Empty, of course i get the check gauges notification.

What can i do to solve this problem.

i would hate to be stuck on the road with no gas :( lol.

Hrm... this seems to indicate a problem with the fuel sender, but I've never dealt with one myself. The sender is in the tank with the pump, so it could be that the sender wasn't reinstalled properly when the pump was done?

from what he told me , there is some sort of coil in the pump i dont know the name but he says it was really black and he knew it wasnt going to work but it was working before , sorry but i am a novice in cars.

But is there a fuse i can look into , i was seeing in the forums you can put a resistor in parallel with the fuel sender and the gas gauge and it would show the correct gauge. however its only for peolpe who have problems only when they fill up the tank.

Please...do me a favor.. change the red font..and make the font a bit smaller. My boss can read it from here.

I've seen plenty of senders out of the car and the description of a coil doesn't really make sense. The sender must be plugged in for the fuel pump to work, it'* all the same plug.

It is very possible that the sender got bent during reinstallation or some other unfortunate action.

The resistor is one that relates to 96-98 I believe.
