My fuel door seems to be locked and I can't get it opened. The problem is I need gas ASAP and if the door won't open this is a problem. Is there a manual release on the lock somewhere if it happens to jam or freeze or something of that nature?

Please help!

There should be a manual release inside the trunk, on the drivers side.

Being that you have an SE, I doubt you will find a manual release.

The locking gas tank door was an SSE/SSEi feature. I'm assuming it'* been wet and cold?

the SLE model in 97 could have had locking gas door


follow the advise listed above.....you will find a manual release on the drivers side near the trunk hinge...you might have to pull the trunk carpet back to find it

the first day i bought my 95 and went to the gas station, the door was locked shut and i couldnt figure out for the life of me how to get it open! i was ready to just start prying until something broke...

unlocking the doors also unlocks the fuel door

Second unlock signal unlocks the 3 passenger doors and the fuel door. If you only unlock once, it'* only the driver'* door.

Make sure you hit unlock on your remote twice, or use the power unlock inside the car.

i have pressed unlock over and over again. it doesn't seem to be frozen it seems to be jammed or the lock is stuck in lock position and there is no manual release in the trunk. i don't even see a way to remove the fuel door to try to fix it. it has been quite cold and a bit wet up here in the Detroit area and i just want to put some gas in my bonny so i don't have to keep putting all the miles on my lease. plus it is much more comfortable to drive the bonny on my long journeys i take almost every weekend.

Is it frozen? If so, can you warm it up? Do your other three doors unlock on the second remote pulse?
