Please help with 92 SSEI

Ok so I have a 92 SSEI with 129k miles on it. I've been having problems for a handfull of months now. First my car stalled and wouldn't start and that's when I began troubleshooting and fixing things. I've replace the spark plugs and wires, PCV valve, and the cam or crank censor i cant remember which one my father replaced. My car has been running ever since we replaced all of that but the car still runs rough and my guages malfunction, especially the oil guage. It will drop all the way to 0 and whenever I check my oil It's fine. My car is now throwing the code for the other censor that wasn't replaced and a security code. At night when the guages malfunction the lights on my dash will dim erratically. Will replacing the other censor fix my problems or is there more to it? And what would the security code be about? When I get in touch with my father i will post which censor was replaced.

From the sounds of it you have a ground problem. This would explain the oil sensor, and dim dash lights. These tests will help find the problem

This is a better place to start. Replacing sensors that are in working order is wasting your money and time.

Ok so I just got off the phone with my father and we replaced the crank censor. The computer is throwing the code for the cam censor and security code. This weekend my father is going to run those tests for me to see what the problem is. Hopefully it's just a corroded terminal.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you guys i've been extremely busy with school. The problem has now gotten worse. Now my car likes to put on a light show where every single warning light on the dash goes insane flicking on and off and the Ding Ding sound the car makes when something happens repeatedly goes off. My guages also go crazy. My father and I checked the ground bus and it was in perfect condition, no sign of corrosion at all. My alt is also fine. Apparently my Neg battery bolt was stripped and wobly so we fixed that and it wasnt the problem. My father thinks that maybe my dash is going? I have no idea whats going on though and the car is getting to the point where i hate driving it now. Any ideas??

My '92 Bonn had its worst time during 80-150K, so when it was acting up like what you are now describing, it brings back memories. All the parts you've changed are not wasted. My electrical problems ended with a fresh new high capacity battery (not a starter battery with no reserve for all our high amp sucking accessories) and a high capacity alternator -145amp (real Delco remanuf.) The orignal factory CS130 alternator is way under sized and many of us have found out. Also, our low rpm motor will not charge the battery properly in city driving conditions. I would also keep an ear out for a quite fuel pump, as my was causing unpredictable stall outs - once at freeway speed of 65+mph, crazy!!

Is there any way to determine whether or not that is the problem for sure? I don't want to spend all that money if it isn't going to solve the problem haha. When the car acts up and the lights are dimming my headlights stay solid.

replace your battery grounds there are 3 or clean them up with emery cloth after reconnecting spray paint the end of the grounds not the battery one doing this will seal the grounds.
