PLEASE HELP
My 1992 bonne sse just cut off on me today.
I'm sure I heard the gas light ding right before she quit and I had just put ten in the tank. Checked my fuel pump fuse and fuse was blown. Replaced fuse and replacement blew as soon as I attempted to crank. Any quick fixes so that I can avoid a tow (and drive right to the shop) or do I cut my losses and pay the tow man. thanx |
With the fuel pump fuse blowing, the only thing I can think of to check would be
Wiring: Back by the fuel tank is the wiring going to the fuel pump and sender. It is possible that something hit the wiring and is causing it to ground out. |
Not the best with electrical advice, but is it possible (or probable) that the fuel pump relay could be shorted?

It could be many things, but the most likely fault is a bad fuel pump itself. You could try to beat on the fuel tank as someone else trys to start the engine, sometimes the vibration from the banging will wake the pump up for a short trip. I doubt that you will have any luck with that though as yours is blowing fuses, thats a good sign that it's done for good.

Fuel pump & ICM both get power from fuse#6. A short in the oil pressure switch could also blow fuse #6. It sounds like you might have already had it towed to a mechanic. If you want help narrowing this down then let us know.
