Default PCV gasket?

Why did my PCV valve have a gasket? No I'm not talking about the small O-ring that fits around the PCV itself, but rather a paper gasket that "was" between the supercharger and PCV cover. I chipped away some of it and left the rest thinking it would work well at venting gases...but what the hell? I'm confused, every store I got to is confused, and the confused are confused.

working at an auto parts store this summer i SWEAR i remmeber a similar dillema where a customer with some car (not a bonnie, it may have been a t-bird or something i dont remember) asked for a PCV valve and strangely enough it was in the system with a paper filter or gasket or something,, confused me cuz i never saw one like it before, in any event i went ahead and looked up your car in the parts store system and it doesn't show any paper gasket or anything... i'd say check out your chiltons or service manual and see if in any picture you can see something like it there... if not.. i guess just try to reused the old one.. or cut one like it out of gasket material??? can't be too big a deal.

Not supposed to be a gasket, but you also don't want it to vent into the engine compartment. It could make a mess.
