cat removal
I have a '92 SE that I want to remove the cat on. I had a '98 z28 that I did this on and my check engine light came on and stayed on because of the O2 sensor. The check engine light doesn't light up on all cars when you remove the cat, I removed cats on three '93-'94 z28'* and I had no problem with the check engine light. Does anyone know if my check engine light will come one when I remove my cat from my 1992 SE?

Do not remove it. It is illegal, and punishable by law. There are many people on this forum running 12'* and 13'* with high flow cats, with no problems. Plus if you remove it, you will lose a noticeable amount of low end power.

I was of the school that hollowed out the cat (busting the brick). These days, stock cats are less likely to plug up and better than stock flowing replacements are cheaper. So now I leave them in. Same reason the Air Injector pumps are no longer on cars, the cat technology got better and the ECM can alternate rich and lean mixture to keep the brick oxygenated without the need of an external pump putting air into the exhaust gas stream.
