Just found out why no air movement thru vents, evap is plugged, wet, so dirt clogged it up. Now can i spray some degreaser down the inspection hole.and try to clean it that way. My dealer said even with my discount from work will cost $1160 cdn. Ummmmmmmmmm Deathrat, my cost on evap is $308 cdn good or not, need some advice in this area fellows

I have read posts somewhere that someone accessed the core after removing the blower moter assembly. They sprayed it with Brake Kleen and talked like the gunk rolled off and fixed the no air flow issue. It may have been on the Edmunds B'ville site in their Town Hall section............Has anyone here tried this????

Well when i got home i pulled the inspection cvr off WTF!!!!!!! notwet at all hmmmmmmmm was i been set up for costs i didn`t need who knows. sprayed the evap core with bio-degreaser well i have tons of air flow now

Okay it was me who told you guys how to do this before. I'll explain it again now!
First off you remove the plastic cover above the relay fuse block. ext you loosen off the nuts holding on the relay bracket to the firewall & move the assembly out of your way (W/O detaching them). Now you find the Blower Restor on the top of the Heater box. Loosen the screws holding it down & remove resistor from the heater box. Now you should be able to see the Evap core through this access hole! Use Brake Klean (Non-Clorinated) to spray down the Evap Cores entire surface. Now spray water into hole to wash off Evap Core. Allow a MIN of 20 MINs for water to drain out of heater box'* drainage hole before starting car'* fan! *(You'll get very wet if don't follow this)* Put back together in reverse order. You should now have increased air flow through the vents! I do this every spring!

Ok, Jseabert and I both did it. His improved, and mine doubled. The core looked clean on both cars, but it made a huge difference in the amount of airflow.

Word of warning......have a wet/dry shopvac ready!

Cool! I'm going to try this on mine next weekend.

A radiator-shop guy showed me a clogged evap core from a Bonneville once. He said that when they spring a leak (like mine ), the compressor oil makes the evap core sticky on the outside, which traps dirt in the airflow, which eventually clogs the whole thing, which brings us to this discussion here...

I'm planning some major surgery to actually replace the evap core sometime, so I can get the system evacuated and recharged for the summer.

After the brake cleaner sits for a few minutes, use a very LITTLE bit of water from a hose to rinse the core. It'* tough to get the whole core through the little hole. You have to get your hose and a finger down in there to divert the water around. Just like you used to spray the neighbor kid when you were younger. Let it drain very well, and maybe even drive it around a bit before you turn the fan on.

You'll have a little smell of brake cleaner for a little while, but it'* worth it.
