New ICM???
Before I pop for a new ICM for the '95 SLE, I thought I'd check with the experts. Car set a code 361 as read by my new Actron scan tool. Closest I could find to that was P01361: ignition not toggling. Went through the diagnostic routine in the '95 FSM all the way to the end where it says: replace ignition control module. The ground is good on the ICM and the connections are clean. The tan-blk wire on terminal B is continuous to the red connector terminal B-15 for the PCM.
Have I missed anything else, or do I just need to get a new/good ICM?

Please don't go do this.... When I had that code I was having a lot of driveability issues... I had misses, Backfires once in a while, and a hard start condition, as in I would hit the key and the car would start and then shut off... The SES light was lit once I could get the car to run ok... I got the P1361.... I figured that there was spark, but after 400 rpms the PCM didn't take over... And I too had the ICM not toggling... It was strange... I didn't even mess with the ICM, I went right to my Spare PCM and tested, No more codes, no more start issues, no more backfires...
But again I have seen bad ICM'* test good... Maybe a swap from the SSEi to the SLE? They are the same module.. At least that way you won't waste your money if thats not the problem.... Just a thought

I once told a dealership that my ECM seemed to be taking its slow time getting to its grave... They thought I was nuts and told me that its not the ECM failing... Funny, the car died in the middle of the road... Started it a million times to limp it home...
I'd say if you have the PCM to test with, what do you have to loose

Swapped out the PCM -- check engine light is now out. Thank you Don! Hope it lasts. And I hope it doesn't have anything to do with my dummied knock sensors. Maybe my resistor loads are screwin' up the PCM. Don't really see how, but then what I don't know about electronics is pretty much all there is to know!
I had picked up that PCM a couple of months ago when I couldn't get rid of my KR, thinking that might help. But when I swapped it then, I got the same response. I only paid $45 for it. I may shop around for another just to have the security of a spare on hand. Maybe carry it in the trunk.

But what is the deal with the diagnostic procedure in the FSM? I followed it to the letter, and it led me right to "replace ICM." If I had, it would'a been $ down the rathole. Goes to show that experience can be better than "book learnin'. Once again, BC saves the day.

I am actually on PCM #3... BTW the remans at the autoparts stores for the 94-95 3800 powered cars suck.... I had one that left my car stalling out.... My original I think it was was giving me the P1361 with all of the other issues I listed before... I ended up with a Cardone Reman.... 3 month warranty I think... I never got 1 years out of it, I still have it as a core... Its pretty much junk... I got a Factory PCM from another 95 with low miles on it... I have had no issues with it at all...
I don't think what you have done has cause the PCM to fail... I feel that the 94-95 PCM is as reliable as the 88-91 ECM... I have seen a series of people replace everything under the sun trying to get a vin C 3800 to run, when what they really needed was an ECM...
As for the problem you described, I felt it was either the ICM or the PCM... This must be a common failure for the 94-95 PCM... we have seen several 94-95'* with that very code...
Glad it helped you, and even happier that you had a spare PCM to test with
Oh BTW.... Anytime I go on a trip, I toss my Spare PCM in the trunk ....LOL
