I doubt the pressure is that high. I'd bet your sending unit is shot.

It'* probably cheaper just to replace the sender, than to pay a mechanic to verify your oil pressure. Not giving out advice....but if it was ME, I'd shotgun that sucker. I don't know the price for sure, but I wouldn't think it would be more than 20 or 30 bucks.

I'll assume that you bought this car from someone who must have changed the fuel filter sometime in it'* past life. But since you have no idea when this was done I would replace it at this time along with the PCV filter. But they have no relation to your high oil pressure reading. It might be a grounding issue within the sending unit, but whatever, I would replace the oil pressure sending unit and your problem(*) should be resolved.

BTW, have you ever changed the Transmission Oil and Filter?

Don't mean to steal the post.. but just thought of something.. my oil pressure guauge shows close to 3/4 most of the time.. which I think is high.. but never bothered.. However I did notice on the front of the oil pan there seems to be some kinda sensor with 2 wires dangling out ( no doubt cut off.. ) what is it for?

Murdock, that sensor is your oil LEVEL sensor. The pressure sender is in the block farther up on the passenger side.

oil pressure sender is fine the oil is still high when on the gas or loaded down
100 psi can not be good for the engin what is the red line for high oil pressure
