Oil leak that's getting worse on my 92SSEi

Dear Bonne Guys,

I just drove my car to texas from St. Louis to leave with my father. A few days after getting to texas we noticed a little leak when ever the car was running. This small leak turned into a gush in a few more days. We pulled the car up on two little ramps and here's what we found:
When the car is turned on, after about 5 seconds drops of oil start to collect on what we think is the line / hose connected with the sending unit. If you look from behind the right (passanger side) front tire / wheel well up towards the engine you can only see a few things, this hose is one of them.
Soon after the drops of oil form, it starts gushing pretty bad. When you turn the car off it stops leaking in a few second.
Another ting I'v noticed, on my drive from Virginia to St. Louis (from school) and on the way down to texas, some times the oil pressure guage would "peg" itself. Cruising around 75mph, at idle the pressure was right around 40-45, but when you hit the gas to accel. a bit, or to go up a slight hill, the needle on the oil pressure guage just "went off the charts" It would follow the rate of acceleration. If I floored it the needle would peg very quickly, if I eased into it, the needle would slowely peg itself. And no matter how little I acceled, it would peg. For example, with the cruis control on, I could press the gas peddal a little bit more, and keep it there, the needle would still clime right on up untill it pegged itself.

We don't know if this is just a bad guage or what. neither of us have ever heard of an engine holding 120+ psi of oil pressure for hours at a time!!
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!
thanks for your time

p.s. We first discovered this leak when changin the front left motor mount, it was broke on the way down to Texas. If anyone knows some tricks on how to get that mount in, I would also appreciate it.... we're having a hard time getting all the screw hols to line up!
And, I have another page about some small problems with the car, the subject is "92 SSEI novice who needs some help" please check that out as well.
Thanks again!

Sounds to me that you may have:
A. An Oil Filter Adapter Housing Gasket Leak
B. An Oil Cooler Line Seal Leak
C. An Oil SenderSeal Leak
D. A Front Cover/Crank Seal Leak

what are brothers for anyways?!?

Well, turns out that it just was the sending unit. My little bro took out the hose and put a new one in. it took him almost 3 housr to take the unit and hose out and about 15 min to put the new ones back in!
Everything is going fine on now... well, at least with the oil gauge and leak problem. The car will still barely tap 2 psi under WOT, and the car will rarely pop into OD. When the car is first started, accel'n from a stop under a nice mild pace, the car will pop into OD for a few minutes, and then hop out again. I drove it all the way from VA to MO in 3rd gear, I didn't notice anything at the time, accept for my 18 mpg average!!!!!
Thanks for the help guys!!!
your site is very helpful!

the best thing to do is put a mechanical gauge on it and see what the ol pressure actually is. also try powering down the pcm and let it relearn itself and see how the trans works. if no improvements, have it scanned ok. is the fluid level ok? it does have to be running to check the fluid level

Use the procedure up in Techinfo to read your codes. The flash feature works on 92's. See if you have any. OD kickdown is commonly caused by a number of things, most common is the TPS. I've seen three of those go out here in the last 6 months, and I've had it other GM products before.

I think the codes for TPS are 21 and 22.

Check for codes and get back to us.
