oil, fuel, etc.. addatives???
 

do any of these acculy work? i see them for everything oil, fuel, etc. what helps your car and what doest? anyone??

That's a pretty general question to which there is no easy answer. Do you have any in mind? Most "mechanic in a can" type things will do little to help a seriously damaged engine or transmission. There are some that can help with specific problems. For example, even GM sells a fuel additive to help prevent problems with the fuel sender unit. The old adage of "if it sounds too good to be true..." pretty much holds up here. Let us know what you are thinking of, and we can respond if anyone has had experience with them.

Transfer agents
 

Most of the additives are transfer agents. They transfer your money to someone else's pocket.

Occasionally there might be something you can use an additive to help maintain. I use Techron by Chevron additive Fuel System Cleaner about every 9 months to clean injectors. It seems to make a little difference; sometimes more difference in the past. I occasionally put in Rislone oil additive a few hundred miles before an oil change which I do myself.

Others probably have their preferred items. I consider using good gasoline brands more important. Same for frequent oil changes being important. I notice the gas additive says it helps with sulphur problems on fuel pumps with fuel level sending units.

I consider the treatments Christmas presents for my cars. 138K mi on 98 LeSabre; 40K on 03 LeSabre. Last car was 150K on 93 LeSabre-still ran great; my wife made me trade it for the red new one!

When it comes to oil, use a good brand like M1,Amsoil,royal purple to name
a few and you shouldn't need any adds. some are legit thou but not many.

Good synthetic will be fine for oil..

I run at least twice a year some injector cleaner ( for piece of mind )

Regane Gumout Maximum or Techron. ( which I have to go down to the states for :cry: ) Or Just use Toulene

IF your engine is carbed up and gunky from wat you can see.. then you need Auto-RX or Sea Foam or just simply steam clean it

there's been people that has success with FP60 and Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube for MPG and upkeep of clean top end.. I haven't tried it..

I haven't tried any tranny in a can ( I hear Lucas is good..but if your tranny is on it's last leg.. it won't fix it )

Just bout anything else OTC is useless. ( that I can think of right now )

All that high-mileage crap seems like marketing to me. Stick with Wix or K&N filters and you will be fine.

it's a ploy, i have one dissected it's no better than there standard pice of crap,
same media(crap again)

there's a little cage inside the return tube with some nasty looking gel in it
thats supose to aid in maintain viscosity,reduce corrosive engine wear,etc ya right!!
if i get time i'm goin to send in a VOA on the stuff and see what the h*ll it really is.

yes fram is VARY Bad!!!, they use some realy cheap / bad parts to make them.

I use WIX 51036, its the 350ci filter, same Specs just longer :)

Hmmmm, did not know that.

The WIX 1040 is the filter that is listed for the car.

Back to topic, I like Marvel Mystery Oil. It seems to do a good job keeping sludge build-up and the fuel system tip-top.
