"BRAKE!" light stays on!!
93 ssei...
Once in a while, the brake light on the dash comes on, even when the parking brake isn't touched. usually i fix it by applying the brake, then releasing it. sometimes i even have to reach down and pull it up a little while pulling the brake release
well, today it goes on when i hit the gas hard. and no matter what i do/did, i cant get it to go off. so its dinging non stop, for the 45 minute drive home.
anyone know if there'* a wire i can cut, or ground, to make the car think the parking brake is always disabled? its not like i need it, its pretty obvious when the parking brake is on...

Just a question, but are you sure that you're not just low on brake fluid? That'* always ended up being the solution to a constant brake light. If it ends up that you're full of brake fluid and it'* definetly the e-brake pedal causing the light, there'* a single spade connector you can disconnect to prevent the brake light to ever come on when the e-brake is set.

If it isn't the brake fluid level, sometimes the e-brake pedal will either get bumped or work itself down so that it'll trip the sensor, but not actually apply the e-brake. Just reach down and pull it up. Has happened to me a few times.

The brake switch/sensor is probably confused. Is the ABS part of it lit or just the brake...if it is just the brake probably sensor on the e-brake as mentioned.

There should be an adjustment on the e brake switch. If the issue is not fluid, then we need to get the adjustment procedure for you. Should be a snap to fix w/o disconnecting or circumventing.

thanks for the responses guys. i feel like kind of a idiot, i never checked the brake fluid. i thought there was a seperate light for brake fluid, my other cars had a seperate one (if i recall right). and everyother time this has happened, i would just pull up on the parking brake pedal and it would go away. i did find that single spade connector down by the pedal last night, and when i pulled it it still stayed on, so it must be brake fluid! lol. ill go check it now, then go to the parts store, ill let you know!
thanks again
thanks again

If that doesn't cure the problem, look at the point where the Master Cylinder and the Brake Booster meet... If its wet at all you'll know the whole story..

My wife'* 2001 Grand Prix GT (NA 3800) had this *exact* same problem: Brake light came on when you'd accelerate, go off when you'd apply the brake. Turns out it was low on fluid. Because it had a rusted, leaking brake line. Which had a recall notice (but only if you actually have it fail). So my dealership fixed it for free.
So don't screw around with this one, get it inspected and fixed.

With the two bonnevilles i've owned, i have put a total of 5 master cylinders in them. All of them failed in the same way; brake fluid leaking out of the rear seal (where it bolts to the brake booster).
