Just got a '95 SE have a few problems to fix
Hello,
I got a '95 Bonneville SE last weekend and I am trying to fix the little problems. I read the message board and found the fix for the radio controls. I have a P0342 DTC and the sensor has been replaced but I have not yet checked for the magnet. I also have Body codes 0075,0076,0077 and the traction control light is on. Lastly, the reading light is not working on the drivers rear and it is not the bulb. How does that light/grab bar come off? I tried to find the instructions using the Mitchel online at work but did not have any luck.
Thanks,
Static1701

If you replaced the CAM sensor to remedy the P0342, then you need to disconnect the battery to reset the PCM to clear the code. Once done, drive it around the block and rescan for codes.
Traction control is part of the ABS system. You need to have it scanned with a tool that can read ABS codes. Probably a wheel sensor.
I'm not sure about the body codes. I'll have to look for those.
If your talking about the 2 map reading lights, not sure, but I believe that it pops right out of the headliner. I think Billboost removed his before.

Well.. removed is a nice word. The grab handles in the car are held in by two tabs on the handle that are spread open in the body to hold by a tab that inserted between them. If you pull down lightly on the handle, you should see two tabs (on rear handles also pull the clothes hanger, it'* a third tab).
If you successfully get the tabs out, you are not out of the woods. Gently and carefully rock and wiggle the handle in an attempt to disengage the tabs that have been spread for decades. Once the handle comes off the roof you are homefree. If a rear handle, unplug the electrical at the connector.
Chances are you'll break the handles if it'* not a warm sunny day and the plastic isn't plyable. Go at this expecting to break it and hope for the best.

I have access to a Tech 2 at work. I pulled codes then cleared them. The P0342 posted again right away. I don't know if the body codes posted again. I did pull up the ABS system and it looks ok. All four wheel sensors are working. I looked up the body codes and it looks like it could be a fault between the switch and or the P0342 can cause the traction control to turn off. I guess I really need to see if that magnet is missing and fix the P0342.
Thanks for the info on the grab handle. I know it is not that big of a thing, but I like for everything to work.

On the same lines, let'* say I have a broken grab handle...how can I reattach it? I mean completely broken. Plastic tabs that go into the roof are broken off and nowhere to be found. Could I glue/epoxy the plastic on the back of the handle to the metal plate showing through the headliner?

Hello there..I'm sorry to hear about your cam sensor codes. I had those a few months back and ended up replacing the ignition module after the new camshaft position sensor didn't fix the problem. Just my 2 cents.

I have not had time to look at the cam problem yet. Still, I only paid $750 for the car so I don't mind having to fix things. I know this car will last me a long time once I get everything fixed. Even with the cam code, it still drives great. Put 400 miles on this last week and it ran fine, just cranks longer when it starts up is all I have noticed and the traction control light off light is on. From what I researched at work, the cam code can cause the traction control to not work. I hope it turns out to be a module rather then the magnet..easier to fix.

I got time to look at the cam sensor the other day. The magnet was there. I replaced the engine computer today and all the DTC'* went away and the car runs perfect! The guy at the yard says this was a common problem.
