O-Rings

I just bought a lower intake manifold gasket kit and it came with these 2 o-rings.. I'm not sure what they are for. Does anyone else know and where they go?

Archon 10-07-2006 04:33 PM

Boogey, what year and trim level (SE, SLE, SSEi)? Please put that in your signature under profile so we can help you better. What brand gasket kit? Are the O rings different sizes, like those for the PCV, or are they the same size?

naMyegooBehT 10-07-2006 04:34 PM

OH, sorry. My car is a 97 olds 88 and the o-rings are the same size and the manufacturer is Fel-Pro.

Those are for the coolant elbow.

naMyegooBehT 10-08-2006 02:50 AM

Both of them go on the same thing? Or one for each side?

LittleHoov 10-08-2006 10:15 AM

Should be one for each side if I remember correctly. Just see what the original elbow has on it, because I know thats what theyre for.

If you haven't replaced it lately, I'd suggest heading off to Pepboys or Advanced, go to the "Help" section and pick up a new elbow. There are 2 in the package, but you'll only use one of them. Part number is....#47065. If it doesn't break when you take things apart, it likely will later.

Yea.. I just realized mine broke.. So I will be getting a new one. Also, I know this isn't the right thread or w/e, but I need to know where I am supposed to put the RTV on my LIM... Do I just put a bead of it in the corner where the 2 seperate gaskets meet? Or do I put it all the way around the gasket? I bought the Fel-Pro LIM Gasket. I thought it was just in the corner.. I just need some confirmation.

That question was asked and answered in this thread.
