Thumbs up Code 43 turn off on stops and sometimes high idle

Hi hopefully this will help some of you fix your pointiac.

I have a 1992 Pointiac Boniville SE the car was running great all of the sudden Service Engine Soon light on, also the car would turn off when stoping and sometime the RPM would jump to 1500 to 2500. Pull the codes with a coder reader got code 43, replace knock sensor, same code so mechanic sudgested changing the ICM change it, same issues, replaced sparkplugs, coil packs, sparkplug cables same issue. Took it to Chevrolet dealer and they did not find anything wrong with the cars cost $235.00 to tell me that was nothing wrong. As soon as I took it out of the Chevrolet Service department the cars started stalling. So after reading many forums, check for vacum leaks, I than paid a mechanic to replace the crank position sensor and cam position sensor. After 10 min drive the car started to do the same thing. I than went to Autozone a purchased the Engine Control Computer for $89.00, I replaced the computer took about 10 min, I took the car for a spin on the freeway and the street car ran smoth, no more Service Engine Soon, no more stalling and no more high idle.
Knock sensor and installation cost $100.00
ICM $180.00
Coil pack $126.99
spark plugs and cables $58.00
Crank and cam sensor $62.00 + $120.00 installation

Computer only $89.00 fixed all the issues.

Wow, I'm surprised that the problem was the ECM. I think this is the first time I've heard of an ECM failing on a '92, but I'm glad you found the problem and posted it for us.

Actually a year or two back Peter G was getting all kinds of knock and other issues. Finally got to the point of trying the pcm. It was magical how quick that fixed it up. That was a 92 SSEi .
