heater core
Hi guys,
I finaly got a nice day to replace the heater core.
Got most of it done but I still can't get to th core.
I'm following these instructions
Drain the cooling system into a suitable container.
Using a suitable pair of hose clamp pliers, unfasten the clamps, then disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
If equipped with manual climate control, remove the A/C temperature valve actuator as follows:
Remove the instrument panel assembly, as outlined in Body & Trim in this repair guide.
Remove the temperature valve link rod from the temperature valve by snapping it out.
Detach the electrical connector from the A/C temperature valve actuator.
Unfasten the retaining screws, then remove the A/C temperature valve actuator.
If equipped with electronic climate control, remove the programmer as outlined in the following steps.
For Pontiac, remove the programmer as follows:
Unbolt the PCM from its attaching bracket and allow to hang by its wires.
Detach the vacuum and side electrical connector from the programmer.
Remove the temperature valve link rod by reaching up through the PCM bracket to get to the rod.
Unfasten the programmer attaching screws.
Remove the temperature valve actuator connector by reaching up through the PCM bracket to get to the connector.
Remove the programmer from the vehicle.
Remove the heater core cover screws, then remove the cover.
Unfasten the heater core retainers, then remove the heater core assembly.
So I guess my 2 big problems are
1 how do you remove the lower heater hose from the engine compartment. It feels welded.
And
2 where are all the heater core cover screws?
Thanks

Ignore
With the 2 bolts that held it in place off and a good WACK it came off.
Then the 2 bolts on the heter core.
Pulled and out came the bottom hose.
Thanks everyone.

Sorry I couldn't help. Not as familiar with that year. Any chance you could take pictures and do a write up on this? I will be more then happy to place it in tech info giving you full credit.

Sorry I wasn't around.
I suggest to anyone to pick up the hoses. Then you can get the clamps off and cut the hoses to get them off. Once there, it'* like doing an air mix actuator and pulling the heater cover.
