I can't believe this.... I SIMPLY cannot afford this to happen right now.... :cry: I have to start a job in 2 weeks, and now THIS happens.

I was driving today, and noticed that the car is running kinda parasitic. It shifts great when driving normal, but when I try to push it hard, WOT or pass, it does that "RPM bounce" thing that it does when it slips. This is the first time it has ever done it, and I am NOT happy, as I have to start my job in 2 weeks, and I have zero dollars to my name, I maybe have $20 in my wallet.... I just got home and pulled the dipstick..... fluid looks dark, and it was literally smoking when I took the dipstick out. I'll have to smell it and get a pic of the fluid. All I know is it doesn't look or sound too good. Just my luck, eh? More depression to throw on top of my grandma's stroke.

Oh well... looks like the car will sit and rot until I can afford it.....in two fucking years or so. :x

While it may be on it's way out and I wouldn't recommend CHANGING the fluid if it's as dark as it is, but what about some of that seafoam transtune? I've seen many members on here pull out some extra miles and I've used it on a few friend's vehicles. This is a problem that has been perhaps not 'fixed' with the trans tune, but definitely delayed. I'd say it's worth a try to drain a bit and throw that bottle in there to see what happens. Who knows, maybe something is sticking w/ the excess clutch material in the fluid.

Black? Dude, I just had the fluid flushed last year... something's not right... looks like it's time for a rebuild. And you were wondering why I sold it to you so cheap ;-) (jkjk)

Maybe it's time to sell the corvair? I'm sure you can find a transmission for around 500, and if you want, I can come up and help install it for you (don't know what help I could be, but I'll at least you'll have my brute force... :lol:

If it hurts when you do that, then don't do that :lol:

And I think you need to calm down a bit IMO. You do beat on that car quite a bit, just by looking at your previous videos and listening to your different kill stories you've told me on AIM. It was bound to go sometime, Will... If you want that tranny to last, I suggest adjusting the modulator to a firmer setting, get some transtune in it, and drive it like a grandma.

Best advice I can give is keep your cell phone charged at all times and drive like an old man....a VERY old man.

My 98's trans blew going 10mph after a rolling stop sign. It won't take much when she's ready to go.

My background: I have been studying to become a lubrication engineer for the last 5 years. I have some experience with transmission lubrication, flushing, and rebuilding. I have a lot of experience with Sea Foam Trans Tune. I used to be an employee of the company. I am now an AMSOIL dealer by trade and my area of expertise in particular is ATF.

DO NOT EVER USE TRANS TUNE IN A TRANSMISSION THAT IS FAILING. The short explanation is that any solvent added to an automatic transmission will attack clutch material; any transmission that is having problems shifting is not a good candidate.

I do not sell the product I am about to recommend, but I have used over 30 bottles of it in my customers' vehicles and I can't tell you how strongly I recommend it.
