I've got a 95 SSEi and only put the V-power spark plug, not the iridium, mind you I only drive it around the block once a week for the last several months.

Can someone shed some light on this subject?

Bill is right, just about any local autoparts store will carry them. So save yourself the money and check a store buy you.

NEVER use platinum in a SC, Turbo, or Nitrous application.

Standard V-Powers are copper plugs and are preferred. Irridium's should also be just fine for SC (not suggested for well modified cars, as you'll be changing plugs often enough to not want to pay for Irridiums twice a year or more).

Copper, Platinum, or Irridium are fine for all non-supercharged. Copper V-power's should run you about $1.50 a plug MAXIMUM.

So I guess the question is [since I don't mind paying for the Platinum plugs if the answer is yes], would I actually see any gain [be it performance/whatever] for my L27 over the TR55s I'm currently running?...Winter is just around the corner [well, not really, but I'm due for a new set o' plugs] & I'm willing to spring for the added cost if it's worth it...

Thanks again Will, for that bit of info, as for the $1.50 a plug, not the case with me. I had posted awhile bad asking for recomendations on suppliers of spark plugs and it was suggested to purchase from sparkplugs.com. There V-power spark plug is $2.25 each. I ended up purchasing a spare set. Oh well, live and learn.

Spark plugs are not power-adders. They're replacement tune-up parts. However, in the case of the V-powers, you MIGHT notice it. They tend to deliver a slightly smoother idle due to the design.

I prefer them because of the dual-spark path. Slightly smaller odds of blowing out the spark under high boost.

That's somewhat misleading. They're no good in our applications, but they came OE in 3.8 SC fords. They might run @ different temps, or require different ranged plugs. I think most people modding them keep the same style as well from what i've been told.

THat being said I  my TR-55 v powers..

NGK specifically states NOT to use Platinum plugs in ANY forced-induction application, period. NGK also manufactures the OEM AC Delco plugs.

I'll take that as gospel, Jason. Thanks just the same.

Just passing on what the Fordies told me. By no means am i suggesting anyone put a plat in any 3800. I don't see the point as they should be changed out more often then 100k. For the cost why not have piece of mind.
