Master cylinder failing?
Hi everyone,
My brakes are acting funny on my car. Sometimes when I push the brake, it goes all the way to the floor and it feels like I have hardly any pedal. If I go and push it again, I have my brakes back. Another thing is sometimes when I stop, the car seems like its not locking up all brakes correctly, causing the car to "twist". IIs my master cylinder failing? Can I master cylinder cause some brakes not to lock up and make my car "twist"?
Thanks,
Rob

when was the last time you looked at you breaks? or Changed them?
and when was the last time you adjusted the Drums?
its sounds more like you have a problem with one of your Rear Breaks.

New drums were put on last summer, including one new cylinder (was leaking). I have been checking the fluid level over the week and it is still full.

Ryan.. Brakes..not Breaks.
This sounds like a master cylinder or brake line leak. Check the fluid level. Then start the car and in park, pump the brakes repeatedly. Move the car forward and look for any puddles. That will be an easy way to look for leaks.
If you have no leaks, it would appear your master cylinder is bad.

That sounds like 1 of the 2 failure modes I've encountered more than once with the master cylinders on both of my bonnies. The other failure mode is a case in which there'* normal braking function but fluid slowly leaks where the master cylinder mounts to the vacuum booster.
