Trunk seal
OK I got it. The 96 SE has been dry up to this point until the monsoon rains.
I'm getting a little water on the matt inside the DS quarter panel. Looks to me like the seal against the trunk lid is allowing water over or through it when I opened the trunk while raining.
Anyone been there done that?

You're lucky that'* all you've got in my experience. I had to take all of the carpet out of my 93 . GM really blew it on the door seals as far as I'm concerned . Does anyone have suggestions on replacement of door seals? What about JC WHitney? Their door seals seem so generic.

The trunk seals don't normally seem to be an issue. I know the feeling on the monsoon rains. Is there anything around the trunk seal that might be causing a backup of water or possibly a dirty seal/trunk lid?
JDSeation, please start another thread as your problem is door seal and we wouldn't want to pull SSEBonne'* thread off topic. Also a search on Door Seal might help out.

I have some sort of problem with a wet trunk myself. I pulled the carpet and pad out and the pad was really wet. I did notice that around the inside of my trunk it is dirty like there was water standing in there. I am not sure if maybe the channels for the sunroof might be clogged. I know that initially they had that problem with the new bodystyle. My trunk seal LOOKS good, but you can't tell much by looking.

seal
Put some windshield RTV around the inside of the trunk seal where it slides onto the metal lip in the upper left corner. Pretty neat stuff, its runny and seeps into cracks well. Looks like there was a irregular metal surface there. Will get a good water test Friday when the monsoons are expected to return to the tune of 3 to 4".

Yes do a search on Door Seal. Vital49 posted some very useful info on salvaging a 1 foot piece of door seal from the yard and piecing it in.

Its raining like theres no tomorrow again and I went into the back seat and pulled the center arm rest down and looked into the trunk. All is dry so far. I hope that windshield RTV worked.
Maybe I should be building an Ark.
