new parts = bad parts
 

I feel that part stores should pay us for parts that are faulty (labor!). A year ago I put in a new fuel pump, strainer,fuel pump relay, and fuel filter. I had the problem solved until a month ago and started having no fuel pressure unless I let the car turn over three separate times, remove the key and then it would start and run great for the rest of the day. While making my decisions, I noticed the fuel pump was not working when it was turning over. Right away I made several attempts at other things that could have been the bad apple. My last result was the fuel pump relay. It was my fault to not check things in the order that was listed in the service manual. I just did the diagnostics that was in my mind from when the fuel pump went bad. In my garage, I should not think that a $20 part should not fail in less than a year. My mistake and it will not happen again! Oopss....This is just a reminder to keep with the manuals and stick to what they tell ya on this forum.

My wife put the car in the ditch during a snow storm and I was doing some looking under the car. I noticed the brake pads were looking slim and the struts were making some noise. After some bad words and a few brews it was off to work. New brakes, new struts, new alignment and this car rocks.....

Parts can fail at any point. Parts even fail right out of the box.

One winter the starter on my moms blazer went out, we put 2 new ones on and they were both junk, we MADE the store test a brand new one before we would leave with it after that.

The sick thing is, I put the old relay that I took out back in just to verify my findings......I also found out tonight playing around that my relay may have a limited lifetime warranty. I wonder if it is good on this application? If not I would probably purchase a new one anyway...

Always a good idea to hold on to old parts that still work. Test the relays. There is a test write up in the testing area.

The main reason I replaced it all was for peace of mind. With my wife and 2 daughters in it all the time and this nice winter we just had I really did not want any problems....
