Default Sunroof frozen in vent position

My sunroof is frozen in the vent position. It is completely dead/jammed and will not move at all. Is there any quick way to just get the thing closed temporarily while I decide what to do about getting it fixed? I took the glass off so I could get to the mechanism but I couldn't budget any of the parts. (93 SSEi)

Maybe you have a blown fuse? Does the motor make any noise?

The motor makes no noise... according to the users manual, the sunroof is on the same fuse as the windows which still work - so I assume it is not the fuse either.

Some sunroofs come with a little tool that will allow you to manually crank it down, but I don't believe the Bonneville is one of them :( Do you have a aftermarket specialty shop in your area that installs aftermarket sunroofs? These guys might be better than going to the dealer ($$$$). Regardless, get to someone soon before it rains.

The relevant quote says:

"Partially lower headliner, release clutch, and manually crank sunroof using a 4 mm hex wrench."

Just exactly where this clutch and crank is supposed to be, I have no idea. I assume it has to be at the rear of the sunroof, so this would involve removing the plastic trim at the rear window and dropping the headliner.

Great info about the crank. I'll try that after it stops raining!

Could the switch have gone? I know mine sometimes takes a couple of trys to get it going it the OPEN position... and the OPEN one is the one that closes the vent of the roof.

It'* possible. I tested it but I may not have done it right. It makes sense that it would be the switch because this all happened when some water got into the front area of the roof - where the switch is.

The sunroof control module is also overhead, but I believe it'* on the passenger side.
