Obd on a 93 bonnie sc
Hey guys, might be a bit of a rhetorical question, but do i need a scanner to get codes from my obd in 93 bonnie ssei?
I think i found the ALDL and i have seen posts that require you to jump A and B and read the diagnostic light with the 2 error codes, And they say it'* for cars from 87-93,but i don't seem to have an indicator light or a B wire on the ALDL... Engine light is on at the dash.

Awesome thanks! It just keeps flashing code 12...
To elaborate car isn't starting, starter is cranking but it does sound funny.. The starter is turning the engine over but i dont know if thats what bonnie starters are supposed to sound like ( have yet to drive this car)... Can also smell fuel, maybe theres no spark?

you can pull a plug and lay it on the block somewhere so it in good contact with the block and have someone turn it over while you are looking at it for spark. just dont hold it you could get zapped. what do you mean by funny, sounds slow, loud?

Yea im alone for the day sadly... Ive been trying but i cant see the spark, i need to wait till someone can come crank it for me. It sounds loud honestly, maybe slow, and kinda high pitched? Not like the gear isnt engaging just different i guess.. Its hard to say seeing as i have yet to start/drive this car, tough project!

sometimes it can sound labored if you have no spark or no fuel or if something is causing the timing to be off, because you arent getting the help you normally get by the combustion before it starts. you bought it not running?

I bought it mid engine swap for 300 bucks, this motor has like 100,000k on it, but it has been sitting for a while... Ive flushed all the old coolant/atf & filter/ oil and filter, new spark plugs, changed acouple gaskets... Now the troubleshooting!
I noticed on my injector rail there is a purge valve there, i pressed it and gas came out. i know the car is getting gas, is it worth spending the 60 bucks to get a fuel pressure gage?

well you can have gas there and not have enough to pressure to start it. pretty common actually when a fuel pump fails to just go below about 30 on that engine i believe. to run and run well its got to be over that. but i would check for spark first, if you dont have it then you dont need a gauge. you can usually borrow one from a parts store anyway

Okay, found an old timing gun, hooked it up to my corolla to make sure it works (dont judge for the corolla, shes a lady!) hooked it up to the bonnie, no light flashing. So no spark, ignition coils? Fuses are good.
