Default new here...lost coolant...car won't start

I have a 95 with 145,000 miles. The car has driven great up until this point. On the way home from the movies yesterday it spit out some smoke and started acting funny taking off from the stops. Other than that it ran ok. I let it cool a ittle and looked at it. The coolant is extremely low , bu the overflow bottle still had coolant in it.
A friend said he had heard of a common problem with them when they lose coolant.
I put some coolant in it and tried to restart it and it won't start. The plugs are black and not looking good. The firing doesn't sound good either.

What do I do?

Drain your oil immediately before the lower bearings in the engine start to rust. You've got a failed upper intake manifold. Read the Sticky "Vin K" post at the top of this section.

It'* a one-day non-diffucult fix for someone that knows his way around under the hood.

Default Thanks

I understand now...thanks.
I have the intake off and I see how it has deteriorated into the coolant path. not a bad job at all. L.O.F., new plugs and new intake and I'll be on my way, hopefully!

Got the new improved model of intake. Got it all installed, changed plugs and oil. It took a little while to start, it misfired a lot. Then it finally started, it smoked for about 5 minutes and now it runs strong as ever with no smoke.
I have only had the car for a year and a half. I wonder if they have changed this before? or multiple times?

the date code says 11-17-94, wow
I think my sunroof is leaking too. It is the power built in sunroof. Do you know if the seal is replaceable? It is on the glass, not on the car roof. I have played with it and it looks hard to get off and I don't know how you would put on back on.

I answered your sunroof post in the other topic you started. Let'* keep this topic working on the intake problem.

Should he be changing that oil and filter a few times in the next week or so?
To clear all the excess coolant out of the motor...

Good luck on your fix...I hope you get another 100k out of it!

Default lower gaskets

I may be a little late here but in addition to the above recommendations I
would definitley have changed the lower intake gaskets when changing the upper.
Just did them this week and they were toast at 77k!
In my opinion you are not out of the woods yet until these are changed also.
Take a look at the ones I just pulled off.
