Banging noise from RF brake
Here'* the problem. I hear a pop/bang from the front passenger side brake. But it only does it the first time I hit the brakes after changing direction. EX - drive in reverse, it makes the noise first time i hit the brake, then wont happen again until i go forward. I'm guessing something might be sticking? But I'm not sure. Opinions?
Thanks

Check the rubber seals for wear there located in the caliper were the metal sleeves ride in, they used to sell a caliper bolt kit with the caliper pin sleeve and seal. Thats what it sounds like.
Or the caliper bolt simply became loose and is backing out of the caliper.

I'm thinking not brake related. Check your swaybar endlinks, especially on that side. When they wear, they can produce the same noise. They should be tight and un-movable. Shouldn't be able to twist or spin, and the washers on the bushings should be tight.

Surprise surprise -- I agree with Wil'* diagnosis. As an auto tech, I'd say it'* something with the front hardware, not the brake caliper/rotor/slides. Check ball joints and swaybar links.

Oh, some 97'* shipped from the factory missing the right front endlink entirely. Don't know how many, though. The parts guy at my local Pontiac dealer owns one that was one of these oops 97'*.

Well, the endlinks appear to be ok, and they're all actually there. But I'm thinking that its not brake related now, since I started hearing the sound even when I don't hit the brakes. If it is the sway bar this might be a good time to upgrade it.
