Well, I finally got all my lumbar supports working. All I can say is... WOW.

Now there is just one problem left with the seat - the seat back forward/backward doesn't work. When you press the button, you can feel "something" going on, but the back doesn't recline. I pulled the seat, and found the cable that was pulsing when the button is pressed. I unscrewed that, and pressed the button. Best as I can describe it, the connector looked and functioned like an old speedometer cable. The inner part of the cable spun when I pressed the button.

Any ideas on what to try next? I can't see anything blocking any movement of the seat back.

OK, so I pulled the seat again. I learned that there is a motor with a "drive" on either side of it. From each of these, a cable (similar to the old speedometer cables) feeds a worm drive on either side of the seat.

I disconnected the cables, and ran the motor. Spins fine on both sides, although I have no idea how much torque it'* supposed to put out.

The only thing I could think of was that one worm drive was extended further than the other, and although I didn't use a caliper to measure it, they both seem reasonably close in their extension. Other than that, the motor is bad.

The only other bit of info I can add is that the motor get very hot, very quickly, but I don't think this is indicativave of a bad motor.... it'* trying to turn the worm screws, but can't, for an as of yet unknown reason, which I would imageine would cause it to heat up and burn out at some point.

There used to be (maybe still is?) a tech forum that walked you through taking the back off the seat. I have to think there is something blocking the seat back from reclining, although I can't see anything.

Any help out there?

The problem is in the worm drive itself. They get old and dry up. Put some good grease in there, pack it full, and hold everything still and run the drive up and down using a #2 square drive bit and a cordless drill or screwdriver. That will free them up and then they will work like new.

Yup..I've also seen them removed, cleaned relubed and that also does the trick.

Sorry all, the bad news is I don't have a camera. The good news is that following your instructions, all 9 buttons for each side work perfectly. Hell, the thing reclines back enough for a good nights sleep if i need to.

The other good news is the seats come out easily, and once out, it'* pretty easy to see what does what.

Mine was easier though - every button click responded in some sort of noise below the seat. If that'* not the case for you.... I'd check fuses or switches, but I've really no idea of what I'm talking about.

There was also a black control box of some sort under the seat. I left it alone.

Ended up taking the seat out/putting it back in at least 7 times.... well worth it.
