Car is 1995 Bonneville SSEi.

I'm getting my rad rebuilt because it'* been leaking since springtime and all I did was to add water when needed. Now that I'm playing around there, I told myself I might as well change the thermostat. When I took the old one out, it said 192*F.

Is that correct? Shouldn't it be 185*F

Also, should I perform a flush or the fact I've been running straight water for months will have flushed everything

INB4 : Why did you start taking the water pump apart when the thermostat housing is on the upper hose.... and I'd be answering : because it was like that on my old VWs XD

stock thermo temp on every gm ive worked on has been 195 give or take a few deg.

just add more refrigerant than you normally would to get to 50% knowing that your heater core, hoses, engine, etc.. are full of just water. i usually add 1/2 to 3/4 gal of strait for a car then top off with 50%

Standard temp is 195* Because you ran water I would flush it out and fill with clean fresh coolant. Any water you use should be distilled.

Can I blow compressed air in the thermostat housing to blow everything out or it'* not recommended?
