Default Friends 95 Firbird (v6) 2 Questions.

Allrighty... I'm at my friends house who has a stock 95 firebird... it'* the low end engiine.. i don't remeber the specs. First problem is that his left blinker won't blink. His right one is fine. The light comes on, but it won't blink. I checked the fuses, bulb, and all the wires i could.

Problem number 2..... Sometimes when he tries to start his car it takes a while for it to start. It'll crank for about on... 5-10 secs, then crack. I think it might be a problem with losing fule pressure. What do ya'll think.

Thanks in advance for the help.

The blinker - There is a problem with one of the bulbs. If not enough current is going through the blinker, it will not open the circuit and blink. The primary reason is one of the bulbs on that side. Check all the bulbs very carefuly, it may be that the filament has fallen onto the other side of the bulb and is making another connection.

If the problem is a long crank in the morning...

There is a schraeder valve on the fuel rail (looks like a tire valve). Pull off the cap and depress the valve. If a squirt of fuel comes out then there is no problem with fuel pressure.

When you get in the car, turn the key to run (not start) for 3 to 4 seconds (to prime it) and then to off. Repeat 4 times then start. If it starts ok, you have a problem with fuel pressure.

There could be an external leak (smells like gas), a problem with the fuel pressure regulator, or with the check valve in the fuel pump itself. You will need a fuel pressure guage and something to crimp the return line to check that though.
