I have the opportunity to get a brand new Supercharged Series I 3800 motor (Dated 1993) to replace the non-supercharged Series II motor in my 95 Bonneville for rather cheap, but before I decide on anything I'd like to get some opinions/assistance.

First of all, what is the big difference between the Series I & Series II motor and is it significant enough for me to want to steer clear of it? Second, by going with the Series I, am I going to considerably limit the amount of performance mods that can be done (based on what is currently on the market)? Finally, I'm assuming that my pcm will need to be reprogrammed for the supercharged motor. What else would I need to do in order to swap engines successfully?

Series 2 has a way bigger after Market then series 1.

I disagree. Series 1 has the same options except for one, and that is in the works. Most performance mods for the Series1 are actually cheaper than the Series 2. Cams and rockers are good examples.

The aftermarket for the Series 1 is NOT smaller than the Series 2 as widely believed.

and to do the swap Hoo....you will need the Trans,and Wire harness will be different along with the PCM....its a Big job and the NA series 2 has the same HP rating as the Series 1 SC...sonething to think about

But the Series 1 L67 has quite a bit more TORQUE than the S2 L36.
