Default Oil cooler lines?

How hard is it to change out the oil cooler lines? I just got a quote from my mechanic on the repairs needed for the 96 and oil pan gasket and the lines together are gonna be 500 bucks. If this doesn't require much mechanical experience id rather do it myself.

You're gettting ripped dude. Even though Series 2 gaskets are more than Series 1, they ain't that much more. And though it may be different on the S2, only ONE oil line needs to be touched, not both. I bet his solution was my initial thought: cut them off and replace them. Only takes a 20mil wrench to loosen that one line. Your car has far fewer miles than mine, and my lines still look good enough to keep.

BUT, if they do need replacing, it aint hard to do...any NAPA should have the straight line and a tube bender. I bet if you did this job yourself, you can come out of it with only spending 150.00 or even under. And thats with synthetic oil.

Agreed with Sandrock

The oil pan bolts are a straight up shot. Nothing tough about them. Only thing to keep in mind is use a 6 point socket..not a 12point and if the 10mm is loose..use a 3/8.

Oil pan gasket is about $50, lines are probably at most...the same.... And the labor ... it shouldn't take more than an hour and a half if you are on the ground on your back. The mechanic ... 45 min.

I've done the oil pan gasket on my 93 not 3 weeks ago, I just dont know how the oil lines are replaced and wonder if simply tightening them will be good enough. Because why else would they fail unless they are loose? The oil lines going into my transmission cooler was loose so I went ahead and tightened the clamps.
