Default Wheel bearings

If anyone remembers my past posts, I'm in need of new wheel bearings. And my wheels need aligning also. It'* been a long time that my bearings have been bad and a long time that the thumping noise occurs when I turn the steering wheel (when I'm driving and when I'm not). Anyone have a clue how long I could let this go before I'd have a bigger problem if any? A few weeks ago the wheel on my parent'* T-bird fell off (the suspension/control arm, etc. (not sure exactly, just broke ). Since then I've been worried that something may happen like that to mine when I'm driving. Thanks.
