The coolant doesn't need to go up into the UIM or TB. There is another passage in the LIM where the coolant circulates it'* majority.

Given that RockAuto has the Plenum for $75 bux I wouldnt risk plugging coolant holes. You are lucky if you haven't already done irreparable damage to the engine. Order a new upper, the gaskets, coolant, blow the cylinders out pronto so there is not rust build up on the cylinder walls and do it right.

Besides that LIM is $500 bux from a dealer if your JB welding idea fails and you have to replace it too. Stay safe

remove all 6 spark plugs, make sure nobody is admiring your engine bay, and crank the engine over a couple times... each cylinder going to TDC (top dead center) will push the fluid out the spark plug holes.

This WILL bathe anyone infront of or on the side of the car, so stand clear and let her roll over a couple times.

After you get them blown out, put the plugs back in and you may want to wash the car... I do believe coolant is not good for the wax job or the paint in general just 2 pennies

I agree with the proceedure, except after you blow the water out and replace the spark plugs I would change the oil. There will be coolant that leaked down the cylinder walls into the oil, and that will damage bearings.

All right, Grey Goose in the club! Welcome, fellow UIM survivor.

This motor has two weak spots. First one is the UIM, second are the plastic LIM gaskets. Like Nighthwk12 mentioned, drop in some aluminum-framed LIM gaskets while you're in there. It'* only one layer down from the UIM.

Don't forget to change your oil at least once after the repair, because it'* probably got coolant mixed in it. Running your engine with coolant in the oil can cause severe internal damage. Change your oil and filter after the repair. Change it again after 10-20 minutes of runtime if you're paranoid.

You may also want to flush the cooling system, since you'll need to add in at least a jug of coolant anyway, but this isn't strictly necessary.

Good luck!

yea im gettn there, got her broke down to the heads. the plenum gasket was fine. but the LIM coolant jackets were busted. so hopefully thats a good thing. and im starting think if i really dont want any build up in the cylinder walls i might as well rmove the heads and clean them and replace those gaskets as well. ive already removed 65% of the motor. already priced the whole kit runs between $180 and $210.

im gonna remove the heads tomorrow and spray everything with engine degreaser, and continue to have my fingers crossed !! really appreciating the info. ill return in a couple days for an update. thanks !!
