Default Synthetic oil changes

I switched to Mobil one in my bonnie....97 se...132,000 miles....2 oil changes ago....I'm at 4,200 miles on the last change....mostly highway driving...not too much WOT....the level hasnt gone down much and the oil still looks good....should I change it at 5,000 or wait a little longer....it'* not the extended life version.....just regular Mobil 1.

I'd say change it. Especially if you didn't use a mobil 1 oil filter. But that'* my good side talking. Always better to be nicer to your high mileage car (me too) than mean.

With my mods and driving style, I change at 6k. I had the oil analyzed at 6k on my 3rd change over a year ago, and it had less particulates than Dino juice at 3k.

I use a K&N oil filter with it religiously.

Wow..no one carries K&N oil filters round here. Are they supposed to be better than Moby 1 filters?

Fram filters have been independently rated as the worst on the market.
