well for those of you who remember, i thought my AC compressor was goin out, well i still do, but i have some more problems that seem to be not connected to that in any way...

after the TCC engages...or i assume so, for example im in OD, cruise set at 70mph,lets say i speed up to 70, set the cruise, let off the gas, revs drop to 2-2500...then drop slightly again to a little over 2k TCC enaging correct? anyway when im in that status if i barely touch the gas the car shakes like crazy, if i make it downshif it works reasonably ok, although it does seem to miss or slip a little at higher rpms....someone said in another post about this that maybe i should try changing my plug wires? would this cause my problems?

it only seems to do this with TCC enaged, although it did do it one freak time on takeoff the other day, i hit the gas from a dead stop and it just shook like crazy, then took off and ran smooth....its got me stumped

and my AC compressor can still be heard over my radio, my magnaflow, and my right foot.

First thing to look for is broken vacuum lines. Both on my 95 and 97 I had a broken line from the evap/charcoal canister. This is located under the air box and typically not visible. As well check all others possible and replace broken, cracked or dry rotted lines.

I'm pretty sure the vacuum lines are the problem here.

any other suggestions i might want to look into?

You need new plugs, wires and possibly coil packs (if the towers are corroded)

The wires for sure (that is your problem) The coil towers can be cleaned if they are not too bad. And it probably needs plugs anyways if the rest of your ignition system is that bad.

Coil pack towers are commonly overlooked but the corrosion on the tower post is just as bad as a corroded plug wire terminal.

the plugs were replaced new when my intake blew, about 2-3 weeks ago, we did not however replace the wires, my parents were supplying the budget at the time, cause i didnt have the money and needed the car...so my dad didnt feel new wires were necessary, ill pick up a set though and see what happens.

i also pulled all the coils not too long ago and the contacts were still nice and shiny.

i will also pull each plug and see if they all check out ok.

If the plugs are new then leave them alone, you can do more damage to new plugs by removing and re-installing them....Cracking the insulators or ceramics of the plugs.

However, you may have cracked a new plug while installing it. Spark plugs are very brittle when it comes to installing and removing them. Especially if you do not use a rubber booted spark plug socket. And if you dropped a plug, you can almost be sure that it is bad. They are VERY brittle.

On the plug wires, if you have a multimeter you can test them for resistance and tell w/o buying new ones if they are bad. I haven't done this but have seen it many times here on BC. Test...don't necessarily replace.

On the plugs. Which ones did you choose? Recently I have seen Sonoma and myself both let down by Iridiiums. The problem does sound ignition related. You can also pull your plugs one at a time and look for any fouling to give you an indication of a poor firing cylinder and then look to the wires and coils for the affected plug.

the plugs were Ac Delcos, i cant remember the exact model number or anything but it was supposedly OE..i need to go outside and check the plugs, i just woke up like 5 mins ago.


well im in the middle of pullin the plugs now, i took the car for a little drive first cause i had some stuff to do, so when i came back i started the project, the manifolds were too hot to touch so i put gloves on and pulled plug #1, it was fine, upon putting it back in i dropped the spark plug socket down in between the manifold and the heat shield....ive been battling that thing for a good 20 minutes with a coat hanger, to no avail, ill just have to wait till the manifolds cool down so i can use my fingers....word to the wise, dont drop that thing down in there!!!

well several minor burns, cuts, scrapes, bruises, cuss words, and outcries of pain later...i pulled all 6 spark plugs...and they all still look almost brand new, a little black here and there, but thats expected, they didnt appear to be fouled at all...could my problem still be the ignition without fouling the plugs?

theres no way i can get ahold of a multi-meter to test the wires, but if i had a bad wire wouldnt its plug be fouled bad?

Have you looked for other vacuum lines...maybe you just can't hear them. Brake booster hose is hooked up well? All the others you can see are good?

First thing in the manual for these symptoms is usually check the 700 vacuum lines.

Beyond that and the plugs being good...I'm out of good advice. :(
