Trouble code on 96 SE???
Is there a way to get the trouble codes by jumping the wires like in the 89-93 years? My old man has a 96 SE that is running very rough until the engine gets warm. Check engine light is on. He hates to pay to have someone do it- like all of us.
He thought it was the coolant temp sensor, changed it... no help.
thanks

No, everything made in MY '96 and later conforms to the OBD-II spec, so they're a great deal more complicated than the MY '93 and prior ECMs. You'll need a scan tool of some form to pull codes.
AutoZone and other assorted auto parts places sell OBD-II scanners, and often will have one available at the store to scan codes for customers, either for a small nominal fee or (most often) free.
